Western Australia. Perth.
This is another test for food before I shoot the competition food. I was lucky enough to spend some time in the kitchen of one of Perth's best restaurants in order to test lighting in a kitchen, the way food looks, how it is or should be presented and most importantly how I should represent it and process it. I learned a lot that night.
1. A cable release for the camera is a must. Shots were slightly blurred (I must buy one)
2. Fluorescent light is good, once white balanced out.
3. No need for specific lighting
4. Need to be sensitive when grading the pictures. Medium Rare meat can end up looking rare after processing in Photoshop. Keep your eye on the reds.
6. Don't go crazy with color balancing. some vegies can end up looking weird.
7. DoF is a must. Long lens was good, but I must try a better lens.
Thank you Simone & Neil for letting me shoot in your Restaurant. Excellent food once again!

Food looks delicious! Good composition too.
However, i think you can improve with the DOF
with a better and wider aperture lens.

Greg - beautiful lighting here, great sparkle
coming off the food and really nice
composition and dof. I wish it was slightly
sharper though?
Great pp work with border etc.

Rae : Sharper. Yeah I know. That is why I'm
buying a remote control for the camera. The
shot wasn't steady enough even tho I had my
tripod. :) Maybe I should have used the
timer.

Looks really wonderful: The lighting is
really good, really enhances the picture for
