understand why people make the trek up here
to view this special moment of the day.
these are precious minutes...and you
express it beautifully in this image. one
can feel the promise of a new day...and the
magic of nature putting on one more
incredible display of awesome energy.
we live in such a heartbreakingly
beautiful world. it is one of the things i
think about....that when i die i won't be
able to see this beauty any more....and it's
another reason why i love living in nature,
so i can be close to this fabulous energy day
after day. just fantastic.

I saw this sunrise in person on a Vacation to
Maui in May of 2007. It was one of the most
amazing sights I have ever seen in my life.
I did the "Mountain Bike" down the
volcano excursion after the sunrise.
The sky was much clearer when you took this
shot though, the morning I went was extremely
overcast, yet still something I will probably
never see ever again :)

This is really quite good. I was browsing
through Haleakala sunset images on flickr
while responding to another photographer's
question, and yours was the first decent
image I found. As expected, you had to do
quite a bit of work salvaging it from an HDR
series.
I'm curious about what lens and aperture
you used to get the nice sun-star?
My recommendation to the other shooter was
to enjoy the moment, forget about shooting
it, and buy a poster!

wonderful shot, eric! it's great to see this
on a different monitor from my own as the
colors and light just about pop out of the
screen.
i'm up at the Suites catching up on my
comments of one month ago, one picture at a
time, on a Mac House computer ... they have
DSL and this won't take me all evening to do.
so very very nice to see you here in Mendo.
i could easily take you home and keep you,
we would shoot pictures together at the
twilight hour whenever we wanted to
.....................but that is only for
dreaming i guess.

crater and needed an illustration for it .
