Return To Innocence by fatmanwalking

Return To Innocence

Kausani. A place I can never forget. Nestled on that mountain, tucked away in its unbelievable beauty away from the prying eyes of most humans. With a front row view of the mighty Himalayas. Bliss.
The people there - as nice as the place itself. As humble as the mountains facing them are mighty.

Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants by fatmanwalking

Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants

The climb through the clouds brought us to Kausani, a tiny village on the slope of a mountain now dotted with guest houses facing the Upper Himalayas. Where the rays of the sun would light up the seven peaks. That is, if they could break through the clouds. As expected, they never did. And we lay in Kausani, staring into the distance, with eyes hoping to see the beauty that lay shrouded behind the clouds. Ofcourse, the scene was as dramatically awesome as possible. Phew.

The Fields of Pelennor by fatmanwalking

The Fields of Pelennor

Well, yeah, a li'l too far fetched. But the green was too enticing to be called anything less dramatic.

Enroute to Kausani, the village overlooking the clouds.

By the way, in India, today is Divali, the festival of lights. Hope you haven't made it the festival of noise. The message remains the same.

Everybody's Got A Mountain To Climb by fatmanwalking

Everybody's Got A Mountain To Climb

Day 3: We reluctantly get out of the warmth of our blankets to leave Nainital in the early hours of the morning, 2 hours behind schedule. The climb down the mountain is as beautiful as the ascent was the day before. The route down the mountain takes gives us a bird eye view of valleys dotted with clouds skimming the treetops.
An hour and a half (or so) of descent brings us to Khairna, a village consisting of a single digit number of huts, right on the banks of the confluence of two tiny, yet majestic rivers. Tea is served, and the elderly man in the photo turns up for his morning snacks. I frantically grab my camera, flip up the screen, and click off a few shots. My favourite subject/photo from the trip.

Gold In Them Hills by fatmanwalking

Gold In Them Hills

Nainital. The lake. In all her beauty. Except that the it can't really be seen here.
The lake in the evening, with the clouds providing some spectacularly awesome lighting is so, so beautiful. I can't really make this more emphatic, because on the trip, there were places even more beautiful than this one.

Next up, we leave Nainital, and move to even better places.
