I took many similar image at different exposition, all around 20 seconds, at ISO 400, f/11 or f/16. I decided to try using image-stacking using 6 frames to remove noise without degrading the sharpness or losing details. This process removed the light streaks and diffraction stars from the cars (at the right of the picture) because they were different in all the frames, so I simply applied back that area from one of the source image.
The image-stacking noise removal turned very well, but I am also investigation the next step, known as super-resolution. Super-resolution uses the difference in aliasing of different pictures of the same scene to extract details beyond what was found in the source images. It's been used in astro-photography for quite some time, as well as for satellite imagery and by military and governmental agencies, but hasn't really made much splash in the consumer world yet. I'll update this description as I make progress on the subject.
