Erzurum (Turkey) - Bus Station Mosque

(EN) After my visit to Hasankeyf I was tempted to turn home, since the last place I wanted to visit on that trip was Abkhazia (a breakaway republic in Georgia) and I still had no visa. So I went to Diyarbakır (the mayor town of the region) and after having got all relevant informations about connections to İstanbul, I gave Abkhazia a last chance, so I visited the internet café of the bus station – and in fact, the mail from the “Abkhaz Ministry of Foreign Affairs” had arrived, with the visa (a word document!) attached.
So I changed my plans, but there were no good connections towards Georgia except for a night bus to Erzurum of the company Öz Bingöl. It left at 10 pm and was a torture, since the seats were not adjustable and it stopped at every corner to change passengers and freight. In addition to that, we stopped a whole hour in the middle of the night in Bingöl and we also arrived much too early to Erzurum, already at 4.40 am. All the bus company offices were still closed, so I couldn’t even find out informations about buses further on to Georgia. Except for the mosque in the picture, there was anything to see, so it was very boring…

(D) Nach dem Besuch in Hasankeyf spielte ich mit dem Gedanken, die Reise abzubrechen, da mein Visum für Abchasien (dem letzten Ziel dieser Reise) immer noch nicht eingetroffen war. Ich fuhr in Diyarbakır (die grösste Stadt dieser Region) und hatte mich bereits über die Busverbindungen nach İstanbul erkundigt, als ich Abchasien doch noch eine Chance geben wollte, deshalb ging ich ins İnternetcafé der Busstation, und tatsächlich war ein Mail des „Abchasischen Aussenministeriums“ mit dem Visum (als Word-Dokument im Anhang!) angekommen!
Ich änderte also meine Pläne, doch in Richtung Georgien gab es keine Verbindungen ausser einem Nachtbus der Firma Öz Bingöl nach Erzurum. Der Bus fuhr um 22 Uhr ab und war eine Tortur sondergleichen, da es sich um einen Minibus ohne verstellbare Sitze handelte und mehr nächtlicher Nahverkehr als Nachtbus war. In der Nacht hielt man dann eine ganze Stunde in Bingöl an und Erzurum erreichten wir auch viel zu früh, nämlich um 04.40 Uhr. Da noch alle Büros der Busunternehmen geschlossen waren, konnte ich nicht einmal die
