We have HUGE black bumble bees here like
this. Perhaps that's what it is??but ours are
furry and have some yellow. so. I guess I'm
stumped.

The flowers are gorgeous and it is a bee of
some kind, and I bet it has a big stinger on
it. I will google it.

Bees are famous for getting sea sick when

We saw it too in France! - last year and this
year (well, there may have been more than
just the one!!) Here is one of Neil's captures. Its latin name
is xylocopa violacea.
