And this is Ernie a milky eagle owl - he was
very heavy indeed. Oh and all the stupid
faces I'm pulling are because of the glaring
sun. It was scorchio yesterday!

Very tricky for Phill to get any good shots
as we were either standing in complete shadow
or blasting light oh and he was using my
silly little camera - so well done for
recording bigbird meeting the bigbirds and a
huge thankyou for giving me such a wonderful
present x

Stan the white tailed sea eagle was a real
challenge as I found him to be such a heavy
bird and my arm kept wavering - I was
relieved when the falconer 'unloaded' him

Wow! Not only a wonderful series, but also a
wonderful look into a woman's courage. Not
everybody is willing to get this near to
large birds of prey. Hurrah for you.

give to be able to do just that. Not their
usual behavior. Great series of shots!

Oh my goodness....what an amazing series of
pictures. My favorite is the Great Horned
Owl.....wonderful shots of all the raptors
despite challenging light. is Warwick castle
like a zoo or rehab center for these birds? I
'd love to go there.....too bad I live in the
USA.
Your picture is an eye catcher, please add
it to the

This is a stunning series Astrida. You must
be very strong to hold those very large birds
out at a distance. I bet you have developed
some new muscles in your arm now..lol They
are so beautiful and it must have been such a
thrill to have them on your arm. I think
falconry is an amazing art.

What a wonderful experience! I love birds of
prey--a red-shouldered hawk once flew into
one of our windows and sat on the sill
recovering for some time. We looked into each
other's eyes for quite a while, and it was
something I'll never forget. He recovered
fully and flew off.
There is (or was) a falconry school not far
from here and I hope to get there. They allow
photographers for a reduced fee, but it's
still expensive.
Saw a movie a while ago about a troubled
girl with a companion falcon. The cry of that
beautiful bird was haunting. A strange film,
but worth watching--wish I could remember the
title.

Excellent series Astrida! I'm impressed! it's
not easy to shoot at these worse conditions,
but you caught the action and beauty of these
big birds beautifully! Well done. They are
beautiful, big and frightening but so
majestic and powerful! I specially love the
owl!
