It was 'off season' at Waterton, a lot of things in the resort were closed, but that was ok, it meant it was quiet, and there were a whole lot of Mule Deer wandering around the streets, and Bighorn Sheep not too far away. Along Red Rock Canyon, we spotted a total of eleven Black Bears ! The weather was sublime.
I got this shot from near the Prince of Wales Hotel, I think it needed the incoming boat to add a point of interest, some movement. Once again, there have been many better shots of this scene than I have captured, but there are many of you who are not able to see this for yourselves , and I get MUCH pleasure in sharing this with you, I hope you enjoy this and my other holiday snaps !
THANK YOU so very much for all your comments and invites, keep 'em coming please !!

The reflection of the trees in the lake caught my eye, so I took my shot, and only when I viewed the shot later, did it occur to me, that the reflection of the mountain and forest, in deep shadow beyond the trees, looked like denim !

I fancied a change tonight, so I did a bit of HDR on this, I just felt it suited the subject somehow ! There are a lot of old, abandoned buildings here, - I would LOVE to shoot this in mid-Winter, I imagine the light to be astounding !

Saint Mary Lake yet again !! Well, if you get a view like this, plus good light, shoot it from every which way you can ! So I did just that, - just by switching lenses, you get a completely different shot. While you do that, you can listen out for Elk, and keep an eye on your back, there were a lot of Black Bears around at lower levels, fattening up on the abundant berries. There was a lovely Momma Moose and calf further up the road from here, but I didn't get a shot of her, I left her in peace to graze away ! (There was a patch of dogwoods)

This would not work without that cloud ! It is quite difficult , again, to get a fresh angle on this view, there are only a few gaps in the trees, which are teetering on the (crumbly) brink of the canyon, and there is a well placed fence preventing you from getting any closer, supposing you were daft enough to want to !! The colours here reminded me a bit of Bryce Canyon .
Taken on a rather nice , early evening in Fall.
