Sultan Ahmet Mosque

Sultan Ahmet Mosque was built between 1609 to 1616 by the order of Sultan I. Ahmed. It was also known as 'Blue Mosque'.
It had six minarets but you can see only four of them in the pic. When the number of minarets was revealed, the Sultan was criticized for presumption, because the same number as at the mosque of the Kabe in Mecca. He overcame this problem by paying for a seventh minaret at the Mecca mosque.
