The magnificent tomb of Richard Beauchamp, the centrepiece of the Chapel at St Mary's Warwick he founded and which to this day bears his name.
The purbeck marble tomb chest bears a splendid portrait of the deceased in armour in an attitude of prayer, gazing towards the image of Mary in the ceiling above the altar.
The effigy is one of the few surviving English medieval effigies executed in gilt bronze (most of the rest are in Westminster Abbey); this material is also used to great effect in the superb series of mourners and angels that decorate the tomb chest below.
It is interesting to compare this stunning, superbly executed monument, with it's attention to detail and naturalism, with the rather stiffer alabaster monument to the deceased's father, Thomas Beauchamp, in the church's main chancel.
The tomb is also unusual in preserving it's 'pall-cover', a semi-circular cage-like structure that arches over Beauchamp's effigy.

Hello Aidan,
I have been enjoying your shots of the
Beauchamp Chapel. This is almost a SNAP
except I cropped it square.

Wow, that is a close match Eric! I like they
way you've cropped the image, it allows one
to focus more on the fine quality of the
effigy, with less of the rather distracting
details in the background.

Leafed through a brochure on Warwick Castle
yesterday, says Richard as Constable of
Calais oversaw the trial and death of Joan of
Arc.

Yes I'd heard he'd had some in involvement in
that, but wasn't sure to what extent.
It is sad to think that the beauty of this
chapel and monument are tainted by an
association with the death of a heroine!
